I came across this interesting post '40 Awesome Optical Illustions Using Typography' and had to share it when I spotted Helvetica by Charlie Mitchell.
I did my foundation year at Plymouth College of Art and in the stairwell of our studio was this piece, that I just learnt was done by Mitchell during his own time studying there.
I remember how satisfying it was to walk down the stairs and see it line up for a split second and then morph back into just marks on a wall. It was particularly impressive as the walls were just painted breeze blocks so achieving such a smooth finish must have taken a lot of time.
