I have been updating the website over the last couple of days and have decided to take all our orders through our Etsy shop for now.
Don't worry - It is really easy to use and you can find all the same cards for sale over there as you did on our previous shop. We just made the change to make it easier for you to personalise cards and offer you cheaper postage options.
Hope you like the new site and happy shopping! X
I made a quick trip to London this weekend and made sure to call in to the Alchemy festival currently going on at The Southbank Centre. Whilst I was there I got involved with Alaap and Alpana. a 24 hour ritual of dancing and painting which involved using rice to create floor artwork.
Alpana is the term for a kind of floor painting from Bengal. In many cultures, floor painting uses everyday materials which are afterwards swept away, drawing attention to the importance of the earth and the ephemerality of the world. The piece which was being created over 24 hours was primarily designed by Ansuman Biswas, but members of the public were free to have a go themselves and create designs around the main floor space.
This image shows the main design behind the white line, with the patterns in the foreground having been created over the morning by members of the public.
It was an interesting concept and quite therapeutic to sit on the floor and design different patterns with the rice. Unfortunately this was just a 24 hour exhibit but the rest of the Alchemy festival continues until the 26th May.
I had to share this photo as well... It was such a lovely, sunny weekend and beautiful evening weather, I think I managed to capture it with this shot of the sun setting over the Thames.
